How do you reinstate a suspended funeral home Google Business Profile?
By Sean Munn, Founder, Sleepless Director · Updated
Quick answer
Fix what broke Google's guidelines first, then submit an appeal through the Google Business Profile appeals tool. Add evidence, such as your official business registration or a utility bill, with the business name and address matching the profile, and submit it within 60 minutes of opening the evidence form. Google emails you its decision. If it's denied, you can request an additional review with new evidence. Don't create a new profile while you wait.
What are the steps to get reinstated?
- 1.Find the reason. Open the appeals tool, signed in to the Google account that manages the profile. It shows the reason and links to the policy involved.
- 2.Fix the cause. Correct the name, address, duplicate or category issue so the profile follows Google's guidelines.
- 3.Prepare your evidence before you start (see below).
- 4.Submit the appeal. In the appeals tool, select the profile and choose Submit Appeal.
- 5.Add your evidence. After submitting, choose Add evidence, review your business details and upload your documents. Google says the evidence form must be submitted within 60 minutes of opening it, or it won't be attached.
- 6.Wait for Google's email. Google reviews the appeal and emails you a decision. You can check the status in the appeals tool.
What evidence helps an appeal?
Google says evidence can strengthen an appeal and names examples including:
- Your official business registration
- Utility bills for the business
Check that the business name and address on every document match the profile you're appealing. Google flags this match specifically.
What if your whole account is restricted?
Appeal the account restriction first, from your My accounts page, where you can also track it. Once Google lifts the restriction, submit an appeal for each suspended Business Profile.
What if you run more than ten locations?
Google has a process for appealing more than ten profiles at once. Start the appeal for one profile in the appeals tool, confirm the appeal covers more than ten profiles, and attach a spreadsheet with the evidence and Business Profile ID for each location. Google sends one decision email, for the profile you selected.
What if your appeal is denied?
Google says that if a reinstatement request is denied, you can request an additional review and include evidence that wasn't in your original appeal. Use the stated reason as your guide: add whatever proves the specific point Google questioned.
What should you avoid during an appeal?
- Creating a new profile for the same funeral home. Google says not to while your appeal is under review.
- Appealing before fixing the cause.
- Submitting documents whose name or address doesn't match the profile.
Once you're back on Maps, make sure your profile shows up where families search.

How long does it take Google to reinstate a suspended profile?
Google doesn't publish a set timeline. It reviews the appeal and emails you a decision, and you can check the status in the appeals tool meanwhile.
What documents does Google accept as evidence?
Google names examples including your official business registration and utility bills for the business. The name and address on them should match the profile you're appealing.
Should I make a new Google Business Profile instead of appealing?
No. Google says not to create a new profile for the same business while your appeal is under review.
