How the check works
Google Maps doesn't have one ranking. It builds a fresh list for each search, weighing how relevant each funeral home is, how prominent it is, and how far it is from the person searching. So a family across town sees a different order from the one you see at your desk.
- We find your funeral home's Google listing and centre a 5 × 5 grid on it.
- We run the search you choose, such as “funeral home”, as if a family were standing at each of the 25 spots.
- At each spot we note your position in the first 20 results, and which funeral home is shown first.
The result is a picture of where families can find you and where they can't. Distance is the one factor you can't change; how close a family has to be explains it, and why other funeral homes rank above you covers the two you can.

Why does my funeral home rank differently in different parts of town?
Google Maps orders results partly by distance to the person searching. A family a mile from you and a family eight miles away see a different list, even for the same search. That's why one search from your office can't tell you where you stand.
Why can't I just search Google Maps myself?
You can, but you'll only see the view from where you're standing, and Google may adjust results for a signed-in owner. The checker searches from 25 spots at once, signed out, so you see what families across your area see.
What does 'not found' mean on the grid?
Your funeral home wasn't in the first 20 results for that search at that spot. If that's true across most of the grid, the cause is usually on the profile itself, such as its category or verification, rather than distance.
Is the rank checker free?

How accurate is it?
Each spot is a live Google Maps search at that location. Results shift during the day and between phones, so treat the grid as a snapshot of the pattern, not a fixed score.
