How the assistant treats the families who call you

A funeral home's phone carries some of the hardest calls anyone makes. These are the standards the assistant works to on every one of them.

It always says it's a virtual assistant

Every call starts with the assistant introducing itself as the funeral home's virtual assistant. It never pretends to be a person, and it never claims to be a member of your staff.

At-need calls always reach a person

When a family calls because someone has died, the assistant gathers only what's essential and transfers the call live to your on-call director. If your director can't pick up, it books the family an appointment with them rather than leaving them with nothing. It never handles an at-need call on its own, and it's never a substitute for your director's judgment or care.

Questions about price go to a person

When a family asks what something costs, the assistant passes the call to a member of your team. The FTC's Funeral Rule requires funeral homes to give price information to people who ask by phone, and your team knows your price list.

Your funeral home's name, never ours

Families hear your funeral home's name, your hours and your way of doing things. Sleepless Director is never mentioned on a call.

Every family is asked for a review the same way

We never filter who is asked, and never steer unhappy families away from leaving a review. Every family you serve gets the same request, at an appropriate time, with no pressure. Asking only happy customers is against Google's policies, and it's not how families should be treated.

A calm pace, and no pressure

The assistant keeps an unhurried pace, uses no urgency or sales tactics, and never presses a family to book.

Call recording and your data

We'll set out exactly how calls are recorded and how call information is stored here. Until then, we're happy to go through it with you in detail on a walkthrough.

How it worksshows where the assistant fits, from a family's first search to a meeting in your calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Is it appropriate for a funeral home to use an AI assistant on the phone?

It can be, when it's done with care. The assistant says it's a virtual assistant, keeps a calm pace, handles routine inquiries and bookings, and passes every at-need call to your on-call director. It's there so no family reaches voicemail, not to replace your people.

Will families know they're speaking to an AI?

Yes. It introduces itself as the funeral home's virtual assistant at the start of every call.

What happens if a family calls because someone has just died?

The assistant takes only the essential details and transfers the family live to your on-call director. If the director can't pick up, it books the family an appointment with them.

How are reviews requested?

Every family is asked the same way, at an appropriate time. We don't filter who is asked or steer anyone away from leaving a review.
