How do I add a booking button to my funeral home's Google profile?
By Sean Munn, Founder, Sleepless Director · Updated
Quick answer
Where Google offers it for your profile, open your Business Profile, select Booking (or Edit profile, then Booking, in Google Maps), add a link to your own booking page and save. You can also connect a booking provider Google works with. For a funeral home, a booking link suits pre-need consultations, arrangement meetings and tours. At-need families should always be able to call and reach a person.
What should families be able to book?
| Suitable for online booking | Keep on the phone |
|---|---|
| Pre-need planning consultations | Any call where someone has just died |
| Arrangement conferences, once the family has spoken with you | Questions about what to do right now |
| Tours of the funeral home | Anything a family is unsure how to ask |
A booking button makes it easy for a family who is planning ahead to pick a time without calling during office hours. It should never be the only way in. Make sure your phone number is on your profile and answered.
Can every funeral home add a booking button?
Not always. Google says some features depend on your business category, and booking options can vary between profiles. If you don't see a Booking option when you edit your profile, it may not be offered for your profile yet. You can still put a clear “Book a consultation” link on your website and list pre-planning in your profile's services.
How do you add your own booking link?
- 1.Sign in and go to your Business Profile.
- 2.On Google Search, select Booking. In Google Maps, select Edit profile, then Booking.
- 3.Select Add link, or Add another link if you already have one.
- 4.Enter the web address of your booking page, then Save.
Google allows up to 10 links per type. If you have more than one, set one as your preferred link so it appears first.
What about connecting a booking provider?
Google also works with booking providers, listed through Reserve with Google. Select Bookings, then Get started, and choose your provider. Google says the provider will show on your profile within a week, and that providers may charge you, so check with them first.
Booking links from third parties can sometimes appear on your profile automatically. If one isn't yours or isn't right, you can remove the provider from the Booking section, and Google says providers must process the removal within 5 days.
Can you see how many families book through Google?
Only through a provider. Google's Bookings figure in the Performance report counts bookings completed through a booking provider, and Google says performance data isn't available for your own custom links. If you use your own link, track bookings in your own booking system instead.
